Lies We Live By: Exposing the Lies That Run Your Life

The enemy’s greatest weapon isn’t destruction—it’s deception. The most dangerous lies are the ones we don’t even recognize.

2 Corinthians 11:14 – “And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light.”

1. The Enemy’s Strategy: If He Can Get You to Believe It, He Can Get You to Live It

John 8:44 – “He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.”

Lie Of Compromise

“God understands—it’s not that big of a deal.”

Romans 6:1-2 – “Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? By no means!”

Lie Of Procrastination

“I’ll follow God later, after I get my life together.”

2 Corinthians 6:2 – “Now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation.”

Lie Of Defeat

“This is just who I am—I can’t change.”

2 Corinthians 5:17 – “If anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!”

Every stronghold starts as a suggestion. Every bad decision starts as a bad belief. And every time you let a lie live in your mind, you give it permission to shape your life. What you believe will determine what you become.

Proverbs 23:7 “For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.”

2. The Culture’s Influence: When Feelings Become Facts, Truth Becomes Optional

Isaiah 5:20 says, “Woe to those who call evil good and good evil.”

Culture says:

“Live your truth.”

But what if your truth is a lie?

John 17:17 – “Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth.”

“Do what feels right.”

But what if your feelings are wrong?

Jeremiah 17:9 – “The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it?”

“If it makes you happy, it’s good.”

But what if it makes you happy now and destroys you later?

Proverbs 14:12 – “There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end it leads to death.”

Matthew 7:24-25 “Everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.”

3. The Only Way to Break Free: Expose the Lie, Embrace the Truth

John 8:32 “Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

John 14:6 “I am the way, the truth, and the life.”

“I’ll always struggle with this.”

1 Corinthians 10:13 – “God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear.”

“I don’t deserve God’s love.”

Romans 8:38-39 – “Nothing can separate us from the love of God.”

“I’m too far gone.”

Luke 15:4 – “Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one. Doesn’t he leave the ninety-nine to go after the lost sheep until he finds it?”

Ephesians 5:13 “Everything exposed by the light becomes visible—and everything that is illuminated becomes a light.”

Deuteronomy 30:19 “I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life.”
